This Month’s Story magazine in Japan features a cute article on how to beat the Summer monday blues. The article features images of the Kyoto Sakura Parasol and the Natura Pumpkin Parasol. Lately it’s been really hot so these parasols really are a surefire ways to beat the heat!
Sakura Parasol – Somei Yoshino Blooms!
Spring has sprung and with it bloom the Sakura Blossoms. Once again, the Somei Yoshino Sakura Parasols come out too. This limited edition parasol was created in collaboration with the wonderful artist, Aya Kato. A wonderful artist who works with fairytales and traditional motifs, turning them into bold, psychedelic, contemporary art pieces in a style sometimes recalling Manga and Art Nouveau.
Someiyoshino Sakura Parasol by DiCesare Designs
Somei Yoshino is a variety of Japanese Sakura tree that has nearly pure white blossoms that are tinged in a soft pink.
This limited edition parasol was created in collaboration with the wonderful artist, AYA KATO. Aya Kato often works with fairytales and traditional motifs, turning them into bold, psychedelic, contemporary art pieces in a style sometimes recalling Manga and Art Nouveau.
The intention of this collaboration was to provide Aya Kato with a canvas for her motifs in the form of the iconic Sakura Parasol.
This project is special to me and the Somei Yoshino is one of the nicest parasols I’ve ever made.
