This Month’s Story magazine in Japan features a cute article on how to beat the Summer monday blues. The article features images of the Kyoto Sakura Parasol and the Natura Pumpkin Parasol. Lately it’s been really hot so these parasols really are a surefire ways to beat the heat!
I’d like to once again thank my dear friend Melissa Rebronja, musician and photographer, for capturing this incredibly cute shot of actress and photographer Justin Warrington with the DiCesare Designs Parashell Parasol.
It’s absolutely lovely. Melissa, thank you so much!
DiCecare Designs was recently featured on a segment of Japan’s Asahi BS. “Partner TV” is a design/lifestyle program based on the magazine of the same name.
The program covered the design philosophy and process behind creating Dicecare Design’s collection of parasols and umbrellas.
It just got a lot hotter didn’t it? Summer is finally here and this one’s going to be a hot one. August’s Voce features an article about the Marina Pumpkin Parasol and a Beige 1tone Pumpkin Parasol too!
This month’s BS Partner magazine features the Kyoto Pumpkin brella Parasol in it’s 2012 Parasol list! The Kyoto Pumpkin parasol is painstakingly made of hand-dyed linen using traditional dying techniques from the Kuriyama workshop in Kyoto. Each one is original and the fabric is absolutely gorgeous.
Recently, photographer Minaco Syarima, and musician Yuqi Kokufuda stepped out in Ginza on a very rainy night to do an impromptu photo shoot with a selection of Pumpkin umbrellas. I’m so thrilled with the results. Thank you so much Minaco and Yuqi. That was such a good collaboration! I hope we can do something like that again soon!
Last month’s Vogue Japan featured a DiCesare Designs Pumpkin umbrella in a very elegant photo shoot for Bally’s 160th anniversary! In this wonderful recreation of an Bally poster from 1956, the model is shown holding a yellow DiCesare Designs Rhythm Ladies’ Pumpkin umbrella. Congratulations go to Bally for such a prestigious legacy!
I don’t write about them much but I’d like to thank them now. The craftsmen we work with in Kyoto have been making DiCesare Designs umbrellas and parasols for almost 8 years now. Their techniques have been crucial in developing new items and producing a limited edition series of high quality umbrellas and parasols. Without their combination of experience, pride and creativity, this series would not have been possible. Thank you! Wait till you see the new items they have come up with to be released in the near future!
Once again I was able to visit my favorite city. Montréal. Every time I go, I find something new to love about this wonderful city. This time was no different. The food was wonderful and the people friendly. While there, Hurricane Irene rolled into town. It was quite the storm. Seeing this as an opportunity, we went out into the streets of old Montréal to do a photo shoot with the Rhythm Pumpkin Umbrellas! The weather conditions were extreme but we got some beautiful shots. The Rhythm Pumpkin Umbella withstood the Hurricane force winds beautifully as well. Elegance under pressure.
